This error normally occurs when trying to restore a company file on a different computer, or after Bookkeeper has been reinstalled. Please perform the following steps to correct this issue:

  1. Close Bookkeeper, if it is currently running.
  2. Move your Bookkeeper backup file to a different location.
  3. Uninstall Bookkeeper and restart the computer.
  4. Delete the Bookkeeper folder found in your My Documents folder.
  5. Delete the Bookkeeper folder found in the program's installation folder, typically found here:

    C:\Program Files\MySoftware

  6. Reinstall Bookkeeper and restart the computer if prompted to do so.
  7. Launch Bookkeeper, but do not restore your backup, yet.
  8. Create a new company.
  9. Open the newly created company.
  10. Click on Utilities.
  11. Click on Product Updates.
  12. Update Bookkeeper to the latest version of the software.
  13. Click on Utilities.
  14. Click on Restore/Backup.
  15. Restore your original company from your backup file.
